BURT REYNOLDS RETURNS TO 'THE FBI' EPISODE 'ACT OF VIOLENCE'
Burt Reynolds on FBI: ACT OF VIOLENCE Year: 1967 Rating: *** |
In Quentin Tarantino's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, he had his fictional late-60's-era actor Rick Dalton playing Burt Reynold's part from THE FBI first-season episode ALL THE STREETS ARE SILENT, four-years away from his movie's 1969 timeline so it would have been more befitting in this 1967 third-season venture ACT OF VIOLENCE, in which Burt plays former hit-man/current bookie John Duquesne, forced to attempt silencing ex-wife Diana Muldaur, who knows about a murder from the previous decade that could implicate Burt and former crime-boss Michael Strong...
Not a bad episode yet far from great, with lead investigators Efrem Zimbalist Jr and William Reynolds casually going from one office to another gathering clues... while Reynolds converses with Strong about a deadly mission he may or may not be suited for: overall making Burt a hardened yet ambiguous would-be killer... who needed more scenes, with more action... at least until producer Quinn Martin hired Reynolds for his own series DAN AUGUST where, though on the other side of the law, he's equally cool and calculating.
