BRIEF HOMAGE TO EPIC ACTOR PETER O'TOOLE

Peter O'Toole as T.E. Lawrence in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA
In many cases a film makes an actor, but that simply cannot happen without an actor making a film stand out, even beyond its own sublime perfection...

Peter O'Toole's performance in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, directed by David Lean, captures the soulful plight of a true life character (and he was a character), turning this wind-swept epic into a completely entertaining motion picture.

One particular stand-out moment is when Lawrence, having returned to his base after spending time in the Arabian desert, witnessing, experiencing and shaping things that were beyond his ability to logically express, suddenly admits to the General that he not only had to kill a man, but he might have actually enjoyed it...  He then turns and faces two others present (a politician and a colonel): his arms are folded like tired wings, his face expressing the hollow countenance of a man defeated but not without a steely reserve of intense determination.

Lawrence was a man with so much more to accomplish... And the same could be said of the young actor himself, who began his career with a timeless, career-defining role: REST IN PEACE Peter O'Toole!
