VINCENT SPANO is a truly versatile actor... f you watch the explosive 1979 teen rebellion flick OVER THE EDGE, Vincent's first big film, he plays the toughest kid in town, an air-gun wielding outlaw named Mark who beats up the main character Carl (played by Michael Kramer) but ends up teaming with the good guys (and girls) to overthrow the town's dictatorial Sheriff Doberman who, played by Martin Scorsese stock actor HARRY NORTHUP, calls in to talk with Vincent during this podcast.
After watching OVER THE EDGE you can check out RUMBLE FISH where Vincent's character Steve, a bookworm that follows Matt Dillon's Rusty James around with a pen and notebook, couldn't be more different than the scruffy EDGE vandal.
Vincent talks about playing Mark and Steve and shares a few insights about each classic flick. Did you know OVER THE EDGE was originally titled MOUSE PACKS? And that Francis Ford Coppola, who Vincent previously worked for in THE BLACK STALLION RETURNS, had to... Well listen to the interview and learn!
Mr. Spano also delves into the wonderfully strange John Sayle's cult film BABY IT'S YOU where he's a wannabe Frank Sinatra named Sheik wooing Rosanna Arquette; working with Peter O'Toole in the underrated comedy CREATOR; and playing a real life character who survives a plane crash (only to be eaten by his friends) in the
jarring true story ALIVE.
