THREE NON BLONDE STAR TREK BEAUTIES

Sherry Jackson as Andrea
We recently payed homage to a few lovely blondes from the original STAR TREK universe. Now we sneak a peak at three brunettes... The first is SHERRY JACKSON, who played a sexy android in the episode WHAT ARE LITTLE GIRLS MADE OF?

Following orders from her scientist creator, who was engaged to Christine Chapel (Majel Barrett), Sherry Jackson's Andrea is more than a pretty face... She'll flip the power switch to turn Captain Kirk into his own android, and she'll shoot him with a laser gun (but is it really Captain Kirk she disintegrates?). And before all this Kirk teaches her a lesson in tough love with a forced smooch. That Shatner had all the fun, didn't he?
Andrea's introduction
GIRLS is a great episode, combining a mad scientist lurking in a hidden labryth horror theme with a tragic love story, and providing Roddenberry's fiance (and future wife) Majel Barrett with a moving performance...

Although it's the lusious robot Andrea that grabs our attention...
"Remarkable, isn't she?"
Dark-haired hottie Maggie Thrett as Ruth
For our second brunette we visit the previous episode, MUDD'S WOMEN, where smuggling pirate Harry Mudd, who resembles a cross between Dom DeLuise and Alex Karras with the personality of a game show host, brings three women on board... all with a hynotic power over the crew members.

Of the dirty Mudd starlets, one stands out: the voluptuous brunette Ruth, played by MAGGIE THRETT, who, knowing a thing or two about seduction, has her sites set on Dr. McCoy.

But the gorgeous trio aren't what they seem. Without a pill to rejuniate their outward appearence, they turn old and downright hideous...

Making MUDD'S WOMEN, written by Gene Roddenberry, an episode with a blatant message: the women you lust after aren't always the ones you (should) wind up with.
William Shatner eyes Marianna Hill
And last but not least we have MARIANNA HILL, who plays Dr. Helen Knoll in the episode DAGGERS OF THE MIND. A former girlfriend of Kirk (who wasn't?), Knoll refuses to believe a renown doctor has turned a seemingly cozy mental institution into a mind controlled purgatory.

This is a good not great outing highlighted by Morgan Woodward, a former doctor of the asylum, freaking out like there's no tomorrow.

And if you remember, Marianna Hill is the loudmouth bombshell who, married to John Cazale's Fredo in THE GODFATHER II, tells her wimpy husband, "You couldn't belt your mama" before being escorted from the dance floor.

  2. Y' know, a better title for “What Are Little Girls Made Of” could be, “Where Did This Little Girl Come From?” The screenplay tells the story: Dr Korby and his assistant come to this planet, where they find android-making equipment and Ruk, who's been standing by awaiting customers who came no more, until now. Okay, so mishaps occur, and both the assistant and Dr Korby are converted to android form. Fine. But – so, where then did “Andrea” come from? Well, y’ know, it’s just one of those things… As her name suggests, she is NOT converted, but is a purely synthetic personality (‘Androida’ would have been more linguistically accurate, but something of a giveaway…) She could have had a back-story too, even a poignant one; a ‘real‘ Andrea might have been aged or scarred or crippled and now techno-magically given a new lease on life, vide F Pohl’s “The Tunnel Under the World”… but no. She’s just… y’ know, there, in a peek-a-boo variant on the standard uniform. Why? Because this is the late 1960s, that’s why. Who’s complainin’?
