Clever but familiar premise has Peter Sellers as an uptight lawyer going through an early mid-life crisis after meeting a young gorgeous hippie girl, Leigh-Taylor Young, and, after ditching his wedding to annoying fiance Joyce Van Patten, he becomes a full-blown hippie. Soon he learns the easygoing lifestyle is anything but, and perhaps his uptight ways are best for him. And that's the fun part, as Sellers begins to doubt his choices with niche expressions that always keep you guessing. And while Sellers has his moments, Leigh Taylor-Young steals the movie, perfectly balancing street-smart charm and naivete. But a dated soundtrack, sounding like a game show, and lack of any solidly funny moments, keeps it at an even buzz throughout.
