THE GANG THAT COULDN'T SHOOT STRAIGHT

cast: Robert DeNiro, Leigh Taylor-Young, Jerry Orbach, Lionel Stander, Hervé Villechaize, Joe Santos, Jo Van Fleet, Jack Kehoe, Carmine Caridi
rating: **1/2
It's too bad this film, while centering on goofball criminals including Jerry Orbach trying to kill rival boss Lionel Stander, is a train wreck because the side story dealing with Orbach's beautiful sister Leigh Taylor-Young (using an Italian accent effectively), and her affair with Sicilian bicyclist/kleptomaniac Robert DeNiro, is quite nice. Both stories seem separate, and only really connect at the end, as DeNiro's arrested and put on trial for... well it's doesn't matter as there's no real plot in this hijinx caper, attempting Charlie Chaplan and failing profusely. But center on the gorgeous Taylor-Young and a very young DeNiro, who a few years later would play a Sicilian in THE GODFATHER PART II, and you'll be fine.
